6 August 1917 – The other half of the crew go on leave

James must have envied those just starting their leave, but at least he would have known that the ship could not be sent anywhere until the men returned from their leave.  So he knew he must have at least 10-14 days in Harbour.

What is strange is that we have no letters from this period. His next letter is dated 30 August 1917
